Designing / Decorating /Maintenance of Bathroom
After selection of location the next part of designing, decorating and maintenance of bathroom starts. The three basic principles for this are: Clean, Organised and Fresh Air.
A well organised bathroom design is shown in the picture below:

vThe WC and the bathing area should be as far as possible and should be separated by some partition/ curtain.
v The WC should not be visible while entering the bathroom. If bathroom are attached with the room and the bed faces the bathroom door create some visible division between them.
v As far as possible keep water pipes and drains confined to one wall of the bathroom as depicted in the picture below.
v The doors of the bathroom should remain closed all the time and the toilet seat always down when not in use.Closing drains in your tub and sink help conserve the energy.
v The bathroom should have window/ ventilators to let fresh air in. Install a good fresh air exhaust fan and let it start all the time.
v Create aroma station in your bathroom. Choose candles, soaps, lotions from aroma. While rose and jasmine aroma attracts romance, the citrus aroma of lemon and orange stimulates imagination. The other wonderful aromas are sandalwood, lavender, yang yang.
v Introduce mirrors in your bathroom, it stimulates the good energy. It should not reflect your whole body while sitting on WC. The mirrors to be kept sparkling clean.
v Keep minimum cosmetics in the bathroom as it creates sense of insecurity. Further get rid of fashion magazines or tabloids from the bathroom as these make you feel that you will never be rich, thin or beautiful enough.
v Bathrooms should be hidden as far as possible in the house. Placing full length mirror on the outside door makes it symbolically disappear. A very effective tip for wrongly placed bathrooms.
v Everything in bathroom should be in good working condition. The leaks must be mixed immediately as these denote money loss. No garbage or broken item in the bathroom.
v Tie red tape or red ribbon on the outgoing pipe of the bathroom to keep the energy from flowing out.
v Introduce lively wood element in the bathroom like bamboo plant. Rotate plant every week in sunlight to let it stay healthy. Some sea salt may be put in bowl as it absorbes negative energy. Do not forget to change it periodically.
v A small light should be lit 24 hours in the bathroom.

Those who are aware or know a little about Feng Shui must be familiar with Wind Chimes. It is one of the most popular Feng shui item in India. You can find lots of homes in your neighbourhood hanging this as also almost every gift shop selling it. Wind Chimes are generally made of steel, wood, copper hollow rods hung in a group. The history of wind chimes dates back to prehistoric times in many cultures. It is said that it originated in India in the form of Wind bells which were hung outside the temples and then moved to South Asia from China, Bali to Tibet and Japan. In Buddhism wind bells are used in many holy rituals. Feng shui focuses on the flow of energy called “CHI” and its flow has direct impact on person’s health, happiness and luck. Wind chime is used as a sound cure to correct the path of energy flow and removing various blockages, thereby enhancing the overall luck. These make harmonious sound when a gentle breeze blows. The material of it is chosen according to the element of the sector where you are introducing it. Metal wind chimes are good for West,North-West and North Sectors whereas wood is preferred in East, South-East and South sectors and ceramics is used in South-west, North-east and centre sectors. Hanging metal wind chime in wooden sectors of East and South-east should be avoided. However sometimes metal wind chimes are also used as cure for malignant stars flying in this sector in advanced Feng shui methods. But these should be used under the guidance of experienced Feng shui master. Listen to chime before purchasing. The sound must be pleasing to the ear that lifts your spirits If the sound is annoying, discard it. Metal wind chimes usually works well as its sound is more penetrating which corrects the flow of “CHI”, the energy.
Number of Rods
The good number of rods is 6,7,8,or 9. When 6 or 8 rods are generally used for luck enhancement and for beating the bad luck 5 rod wind chimes are used specially in sectors where illness star 2 and quarrelsome star 3 resides as per Advanced formulas of Feng shui.
Size and place of hanging
Choose a size suitable to the space. Very big chimes not preferred indoors while very small wind chimes may not be potent enough outside or in a large room. Generally these are placed outside the door so that they can create sound when wind blows or someone enters the premises. These can be hanged inside the rooms also preferably at the height of your waist.
- Hang a 5 rod wind chime on the middle door if there are three doors in a row. It will remove the affliction.
- Hang a 5 rod wind chime on the overhead exposed beam. It will deflect poison arrows caused by the beam.
- If there is a tree or pole or some poison arrows from neighbours pointed at your door, hang a 5 rod wind chime in between. It will smoothen the flow of energy towards your house/office.
- Hang a wind chime in the south sector of your house/living room to attract fame and popularity. Wooden wind chimes with 9 rods are preferred here as the ruling number of south is 9 in Feng shui.
- In a room or building having only north facing windows, little sun light reaches indoors. Thus creating cold and melancholy atmosphere. Use 6,7,8 or 9 rod metal wind chimes in north, west and north-west to bring more energy in the house.
- North facing entrance houses are often marked with isolation as the ruling element of north is water in Feng shui. Hanging metal wind chimes at the entrance brings more life and vitality in the house.
- Hang 2 or 9 rod ceramic or pottery wind chime in south-west sector of the house/living room to improve relationship luck.
- Off course looking to improve children luck, hang 6 or 7 rod metal wind chime in west and to get support of mentor hang 6 or 7 rod metal wind chime in North-west sector of house/living room.
Yes ,the usage of wind chime is numerous. It’s the sound energy which breaks the barrier and brings luck and happiness in abundance.

POWERFUL FENG SHUI CURE- BAGUA (PAKUA) MIRROR

- Bagua or Pakua mirror is one of the most powerful symbol of protection in Feng Shui. In China and South East Asia it is the highest spiritual symbol and commands respect. It is used to deflect and diffuse the negative energy also known as SHA QI and it also wards off ghosts and spirits that cause bad luck and health problems. It is a octagon shaped wooden frame divided into eight sections with a mirror in the centre. The eight sections representing eight trigrams each having three lines broken or straight. Each trigrams represents a season, a direction and above all symbolically shows Family nucleus made up of father, Mother, elder son, middle son, Younger son, elder daughter, middle daughter and Younger daughter. Perhaps this is why with the Family nucleus, the Pakua is so powerful. The pakua mirrors are designed in auspicious red, green, yellow, gold colours. These colours represent growth, creativity, vigour, productivity, success and wealth. The mirror used in the centre is either concave or convex. Bagua mirrors come in various sizes, the average size being 4 to 6 inches.
The bagua mirror is commonly used to disperse and neutralize the attacking negative energy or sha qi from following sources.
* A lamp post, bus stop sign post, power line pole, electric transformer or a tree trunk in front of the house entrance.
* At T- intersection where the road points at the house.
* The sharp corners of a neighboring building, roof line edge or any structure pointing at your main door.
* Ugly scenery
* A cemetery, place of worship, mortuary, police station, jail opposite your home.
* As mentioned earlier these can be used to counteract negative Qi of a spiritual nature.
WHERE TO PLACE A BAGUA (PAKUA) MIRROR
First Feng shui rule is that never hang it inside the home. This includes the apartment building hallways. Though the hallway is outside your apartment but it is inside the building. It is not a décor item.
Traditionally these are placed above the main door or above a big window that is facing outside negative energies/ offending object/ poison arrow. It should be hung at the centre point. Offer some prayer to God before hanging it so that it can be charged or “opening of eye” before using it. Check the bagua mirror regularly and keep it clean. If the glass or wood is damaged, please change it. Sometime you can find metal bagua mirrors also , these are hanged in metal directions of the bagua.
It is always advisable to consult a Feng shui expert before hanging this powerful tool.
